The Three Measures

September 29, 2023 2 min read

What I have come to realize is that I cannot base my spiritual, mental, and physical journey and life on those around me. (This is why the company you keep is important, but that is for a different day.) I have been trying to base what I do on my God, Jesus, but I have noticed that I have begun to compare my experiences with Him to those around me or those more successful than me when in actuality we are not the same.

Not only are we not the same, but our talents are completely different! Like ma'am, why are you doing that?! And then realized something that I had heard my teacher/pastor Prophet Lovy, say once before, this is me paraphrasing obviously: "If God gave us all the same gifts, then what would we need each other for?"

Like, what would make the 'body of Christ' a "body" if everybody was out here functioning like a foot? Each individual has a unique and customized set of gifts set aside for them. And we (speaking to myself mostly) cannot standardize our journey based on someone else's lived experience, gifts, and abilities that were God-given.

Spiritual Capacity Ability to Manifest that gift Your Character We, as those who are, healing mentally, spiritually, and physically cannot base our journey, assignment, calling, current capacity, and presence we carry on that of another individual because 1) people disappoint and 2) we do not know the journey that was taken for them to get to where they are, let alone if that path is even for us. As spiritual beings, I feel that we have common generalties that we can participate in that everyone moves through in their journey, but does not mean that we are all the same. Assignment, calling, spiritual capacity, and how much we reflect our Father.

A great scripture that I think touches on that point is Mark 16:17-18 "And these signs shall follow them that believe..." casting out demons, healing the sick, speaking in tongues, etc. These we all have the ability to do, but to what degree each of those can be done varies on capacity (spiritually & mentally), the ability to reflect the Glory of that gift, and their individual assignment on this earth.

The extent to which all of these works can be performed or (to get back on topic) your gift or assignment in life is reliant on the individual factors that cannot be compared to your neighbor, friend, boss, bestie, or anyone because we were created to function as a "body" and the big toe can do what the legs do, but they can't work without each other. Take the time to really understand what you are good at. Explore it, discover it, and hone in on it.
